"First, I love your title for the blog post - so fitting. Second, just from the post it makes me really want to read the book!! It sounds really interesting with a tenacious storyline that would probably grab my attention immediately. Although this may have spoiled whatever part that may be, I don't understand what it means at the moment so until I start reading it won't matter. Anyway, I'm definitely going to consider reading this next! And your aha moment sounds very aha moment-ish!"

"So this is kind of like a followup to my comment on your last post having to do with Wonder... but I 100% agree that a lot of the book correlates to the "words of the wiser" signpost. Auggie is constantly being told what/what not to do by everyone around him. Via and his parents definitely have a huge impact on how he lives his life considering it is hard for him to make some decisions, especially having to do with going to school or not. Keep reading, it gets even better!!"

"Don't Worry, It Gets Worse" by Alida Nugent - Yardstick Value
"This reminds me a lot of the book that I'm currently reading called Grace's Guide The Art of Pretending to be a Grown-Up, which basically is the same idea as this one: a humorous outlook on adulthood. Similarly, it makes you aware of all of the challenges that are yet to come and scares as well as brings levity to the idea the future."

A Clash of Kings
"I've only heard great things about the Game of Thrones books. Everyone I know who has read it cannot stop raving about it, now including your countenance too! It seems like it would be an interesting read although I'm pretty hesitant to do so considering I'm not sure I have the patience to dedicate myself to such a long book. If I ever do read the books though, I'll let you know what I think!"

Yardsticks about IR Book
"LOVE that you're reading Wonder. I read it a couple months ago and finished it within days. While it's an easy read by the way in which it was written, the story is still so powerful, emotional, and definitely hard to put down. I agree with you that Palacio did a great job creating a veritable story that hasn't really been done before and creating dynamic characters who are inherently oblivious to their involvement in Auggie's life because of their age, but ensuring that their importance shines through in many ways. From the first sentence I was hooked, and I felt like with each page the impending ending of the book was coming too soon! I hope you enjoy(ed) it as much as I did!!!"

Barack Obama: Sony Made 'A Mistake' Canceling 'The Interview'
"I like your choice in article! I've been loosely following this whole Sony/NK back-and-forth since it recently became serious. It did seem extremely risky to put this out in the public for everyone to watch. And even despite North Korea's extreme screening considering they believe their dictator is a complete angel, I can see how this would be upsetting and earth-shattering to any North Korean that would somehow access it. This problem held primacy because the North Koreans are so adamant in ensuring this unrealistic view on Kim Jong Un doesn't ever dissolve. While I think Obama's right in thinking that Sony should have come to him first, I think it was the best idea (at the time) to cancel the movie, even though now they decided to release it both digitally and in theaters. America's known for their levity and satire but it often isn't translated well to foreigners, so hopefully nothing bad ends up happening!!!!"

Big Girls Don't Cry (Rape) - a new understanding of rape and its impact on our society after scrutiny over Rolling Stone's latest article about the University of Virginia
"I entirely agree with everything you said in this post. The fact that Rolling Stone neglected to fact-check any of their claims is a big problem, but the larger problem is the people that are coming out about their rape stories since the publication of the article. 'Jackie,' whether her story is true or not, she shed a light on the greater issue of rape and just how largely negatively impactful it has been on more people than we think. The problem needs to be fixed more than just socially suspending Greek life at colleges (and blindly absolving those committing serious crimes) because that's only part of the issue; the primary concern is educating people about rape culture and its consequences and eventually stopping it completely."

The Blood of Olympus" by Rick Riordan - Yardstick Value
"I like your review!! The book sounds really interesting and I know a ton of people who have read the Percy Jackson series and love it - it makes me want to read it too! I know you talked about the goddess Gaea and how she's conceited and powerful, but I want to know more about Percy! Or maybe I'll just have to read it...."

FEMALE CHAUVINIST PIGS
"I thought your review was really interesting. It's not common that you find people who outwardly claim themselves as non-feminists because those who aren't usually keep quiet like you said. Usually believing in gender equality and being a feminist seem to be collocates but I like that you have a different perspective on the issue!"

THE HERO'S JOURNEY/CHRIST FIGURES (Talia's blog)
"For Week 1 post
Your analogy of Jesus turning water to wine literally and the prisoner's water suddenly becoming beer was a great thought! I had never made that connection, but now that you say it, that completely applies! Your reasoning for all of the characteristics linking Andy to Jesus is definitely coherent and well said. Great post!!"
